Luke Ruukki experimental beef research unit located at Siikajoki has an uninsulated barn housing 110 animals in experimental pens. Each pen has individual feed and water intake monitoring systems and the barn has facilities for animal weighing and handling for sampling and behavioural experiments. The research station has 70ha of field area for feed production with instrumentation for measuring GHG and nutrient emissions from feed production. Luke Maaninka and Luke Ruukki belong to the INAR RI Agriculture long-term field GHG emission measurement stations with movable Eddy covariance instrumentation.
